They talk about how police officers that helped during the shooting at
the capitol remain unpaid while congress is still receiving their
salaries.

LANHAM, Md. (CBSDC) — Inspired by Thursday’s deadly
police chase and shooting near the U.S. Capitol, former District of
Columbia Mayor Adrian Fenty is raising money for Capitol Police Officers
who are still on the job despite not receiving paychecks due to the
shutdown of the federal government.
Fenty praised the heroics of the officers involved in the incident before pointing out they were currently unpaid.
“As the tragic violence unfolded at the Capitol this afternoon in my beautiful hometown, I was following closely and holding my breath,” he wrote on the fundraising page. “The entire lockdown situation was horrific, but the Capitol Police acted incredibly courageously.”
