Putin Rules Out Russian Army's Participation in Ground Operation in Syria
Russian President Vladimir Putin has ruled out participation of the Russian Armed Forces in a ground operation in Syria.

of the Russian Armed Forces' participation in ground operations
in Syria.
Putin
also said that Syria operation was well-planned beforehead, it was not
some spontaneous action. Russia had conducted aerial, space
reconnaisance before launching Syrian operation, the president added.
"This is out of question," Putin
told Rossiya-1 TV channel in an interview, answering a question
on Russia taking part in ground operation in Syria. "Whatever happens,
we're not going to do this, and our Syrian friends know about it."
"We
have continuously carried out aerial and space reconnaissance,
comparing the data we obtained from different sources, and the
specialists from the General Staff… in coordination with their partners
established, as you know, the Information Center in Baghdad," Putin said
in an interview with Russia’s Rossiya-1 television channel.

This axiom is attributed to Russian playwright Anton Chekov – the same one whose work Minister of Culture Miri Regev proudly declared she has never read.Even though it was clear that the extensive military buildup by the Russia Army in Syria was bound to eventually lead to military intervention in the civil war, the first Russian air strikes yesterday were received with a bit of surprise. Yesterday morning the Russia Duma (parliament) approved the use of military force – as if President Vladimir Putin really needed their approval – and yesterday by noon missions were executed near the towns of Homs, Hama, and Latakiya. According to Western sources, the Russians targeted positions of rebel groups opposing the regime of President Bashar Assad, including factions supported by the US. The Russian Ministry of Defense, on the other hand, said that its air force targeted ISIS.
Nevertheless, one can assume that Russia is trying to create a division of labor that is not to the liking of the US and its Arab and Western coalition partners assembled to fight on two fronts: the Assad regime and Islamic State.
The Russian logic is that the US-led coalition will attack ISIS and Russia will attack the rest of the rebel groups. Regardless of whether such a division will be in place de facto, one conclusion is emerging: the big winner of the new situation is Assad and his failed regime.

The debate in the Federation Council has revealed that Russian MPs are united on the issue, with many of them sharing concerns on the recent events in Ukraine. The common notion was that since the power was seized in Kiev, the situation has only been deteriorating with radical nationalists rapidly coming to power and threatening the lives of those opposing their actions, most notably the Russian citizens living in Ukraine.

The developments follow an appeal by the Prime Minister of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea, Sergey Aksyonov, who requested that Russia to help cope with the crisis and ensure “peace and calm” in the region.
Crimeans began protesting after the new self-proclaimed government in Kiev introduced a law abolishing the use of other languages in official circumstances in Ukraine. More than half the Crimean population are Russian and use only this language in their everyday life. The residents have announced they are going to hold a referendum on March 30 to determine the fate of the Ukrainian autonomous region.

Russia's Federation Council has unanimously approved President Vladimir Putin's request to use Russian military forces in Ukraine. The move is aimed to settle the turmoil in the split country.
The upper house of the Russian parliament has voted in favor of sending troops to the Autonomous Republic of Crimea, which would ensure peace and order in the region "until the socio-political situation in the country is stabilized."
The debate in the Federation Council has revealed that Russian MPs are united on the issue, with many of them sharing concerns on the recent events in Ukraine. The common notion was that since the power was seized in Kiev, the situation has only been deteriorating with radical nationalists rapidly coming to power and threatening the lives of those opposing their actions, most notably the Russian citizens living in Ukraine.
Taking the decision to use the Armed Forces in Ukraine does not mean that it will be carried out immediately, Grigory Karasin, Putin's official representative in the Federation Council, has said.
"The approval, which the president will receive, does not literally mean that this right will be used promptly," Karasin said.
Putin on Saturday requested the Federation Council to use the Army for normalizing the socio-political situation in Ukraine in connection with the "extraordinary situation" there. The events in the neighboring country carry "threat to the lives of citizens of the Russian Federation... and the personnel of the armed forces of the Russian Federation on Ukrainian territory," the Russian President said.

Russian senators are going to ask
President Vladimir Putin to consider recalling Moscow's Ambassador to
the US following President Barack Obama's "aggressive" comments on the
situation in Ukraine, the speaker of the chamber said.
The upper house of the Russian parliament, the Federation Council, has ordered the committee on international affairs to apply to Putin and ask him to recall Moscow's ambassador to the US, council speaker Valentina Matvienko said.
"The president will consider the appeal and make a decision," she said.
The initiative was put forward by the Federation Council's vice speaker, Yury Vorobiev, who referred to the President Barack Obama's speech Friday, in which he said that Russia would have to pay for its policies in Ukraine. In Vorobiev's opinion, Obama "crossed the red line and insulted the Russian people" and his words were a "direct threat."
Senator Vyacheslav Shtyrov welcomed the idea, saying that Ukrainian events are the result of work which was carried out "with the participation of foreign states" and the US played an important role in it. He noted that some American officials openly admit that they "invested a lot of money to create such a situation."
So far, no decisions have been made on the matter, said the Kremlin's spokesperson Dmitry Peskov. The proposal made by the senators is their opinion, Peskov pointed out.
"Valentina Matvienko made a good point saying that the Federation Council expressed its opinion and made an appeal to the president. But it is up to the head of state to make a decision on the issue," Peskov said.
According to the head of the State Duma committee for CIS and compatriots, Leonid Slutsky, the Russian ambassador may be recalled to Moscow for consultations.
"In the current situation we are not talking about breaking or suspending diplomatic relations. The Ambassador might be temporarily recalled for consultations, while the format is something for the Russian President and the Foreign Ministry to decide on," Slutsky told Rossiya 24 TV channel.
"This should be a balanced decision that would demonstrate to the USA that Russia does understand that events in Ukraine are of a nature of a ...geopolitical battle, we understand where the authors of these actions are, we are aware of that," the MP said.
On Friday, Obama warned Russia against Ukraine intervention.
"The United States will stand with the international community in affirming that there will be costs for any military intervention in Ukraine," he said

Interesting how the US is up in arms in defense of the People of Ukraine?
Warning Russia from exercising it's right to defend it's territory and fleet in accordance with agreements held with Ukraine before the uprising.
Yet not a word is uttered in defense of the people of Bahrain who are abused and oppressed.
So it is alright to look the other way when people are being killed as long as your Fifth Fleet is not threatened?
It's alright to condone the brutality these people are being subjected to by a regime kept in place for the strategic services it renders?
But it is not alright to come to the aid of Pro Russian and Russian Nationals in Crimea who have requested assistance?
And it is not acceptable to protect a military asset when that right has been previously stipulated and agreed upon by the then legitimate government of Ukraine?
A legal contract according to Russia, leaving in question the fact that there is no permanent government in the Ukraine as of yet. Until said time do they not have a right to protect their interests?
Given the turmoil and violent nature of the attacks taking place. Not to mention the lack of control the interim government seems to have over the people storming government buildings and brandishing weapons. Actions which are condemned by the people of Crimea as has been reported and demonstrated quite a few times since the upheaval began.
The US does whatever it deems fit to protect their assets no matter what.

Any movements of Russian military within Crimea are in line with the existing arrangements with Ukraine on the deployment of military assets in the former Soviet republic, Churkin added, addressing media speculation on military deployments.
“We have an arrangement with Ukraine about the stationing of the Russian Black Sea fleet in Sevastopol and we are acting within the framework of that agreement,” Churkin told reporters.
Earlier the Russian Black Sea Fleet’s press service dismissed reports that Russian troops were blocking an airport in Crimea. Media speculated heavily on the issue after Crimean self-defense squads in military uniforms raided the international airport in the republic’s capital, Simferopol on Friday night.

Movement of Russian armored vehicles in Crimea fully complies with agreements - Foreign Ministry
The movements of the Russian Black Sea Fleet’s armored vehicles in Ukraine’s Autonomous Republic of Crimea are in full compliance with Russian-Ukrainian agreements, Moscow has said.
Russia has passed a note regarding the maneuvers to a minister-counselor at Ukraine’s embassy in Moscow, Ruslan Nimchinsky, the Russian Foreign Ministry said in a statement Friday.
On Thursday, the Russian charge d'affaires in Kiev, Andrey Vorobyev, was summoned to the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry and handed two diplomatic notes - one on the latest events in Ukraine and one asking Russia’s Black Sea fleet units to abstain from movements outside their deployment sites.
“The Russian Foreign Ministry has passed an reply to the Ukrainian side on the movement of the Black Sea Fleet armored vehicles in Crimea, which is caused by the necessity to provide security for the Black Sea fleet’s naval deployment areas on Ukrainian territory, which happens in full accordance with basic Russian-Ukrainian agreements on the Black Sea Fleet,” a statement published on the Russian Foreign Ministry’s website reads.

As armed men described as Russian troops took control of key airports and a communications center in Crimea on Friday, Ukraine accused Russia of a "military invasion and occupation" — a claim that brought an alarming new dimension to the crisis, and raised fears that Moscow is moving to annex a strategic peninsula where Russia's Black Sea fleet is based.
Ukraine's Prime Minister Arseny Yatsenyuk opened a cabinet meeting by calling on Russia not to provoke discord in Crimea.
