Food Storage Space For Small Homes and Apartments

Food Storage  Room  Ideas  and  Demos
Realistically  ,  we don’t all live in 3bdr 2 bath homes.  For those  living in apartments , studios or  condos it is a  bit more  challenging to find places  to  store  your supplies.  Let’s  explore  some  possibilities  that  will hopefully  give  you  ideas for your  supplies in your  living  space.
There is  always  the option of creating  furniture  with  boxes.  Double  stacked  boxes strategically placed  next to a lonely sofa  or chair can double as  a table.  Place a  nice table cloth over it long  enough to cover all sides of the  boxes .  Voila  , you now have a table  where  none  existed  before  and  you  just  stored 2 boxes  of  supplies.  Not  to mention the  added accents  of  a  small lamp, picture  frames or knick knacks  that  you didn’t have the  surface  space  for.
A large  formal dining room table  with a deep center can  afford  you  with  space  for your  supplies.  Placing  boxes  strategically  down the center you  have the entire  length of the  table and the  added height  to be  able to stack to your heart’s  content.  Cover  with an  elegant fabric  and  place silk vines atop to cascade down the  sides.  Now  you have an elegant  ornate  decoration for a  space  that  would have  not been otherwise.
On the  sides of  a  china  cabinet.  Placing storage on  either  side could also afford  you  added  space that  otherwise  would  be  empty  space.  Salvaged cabinets painted  to match  of  contrast  according to  taste.  Brand  new  cabinets purchased  to your  taste, the  choice is  yours.  Placing them on  either side of the china cabinet  or  hutch  will  fill  up that  empty  space.  As well as give  added  interest to the room with  more  personalized  items   such as  knick knacks, family  photos or flower  arrangements.   All the  while providing  you additional  storage space  where  none  existed  before.
A space  that  generally  goes unused is under  beds.  Now  granted  not  everyone has   high  bed.  However,  even if  you  cannot  fit a regular  box under  your  bed there  are slimmer  longer plastic totes sold for storage that  could  be  used.  Let  us  say  for  first  aid  supplies, or water  bottles .  The  first  aid  supplies  are  small  enough that  you  can convert  these  long  totes  into  awesome and  very  well equipped first  aid cases ready  to pull out  when  needed.  Water  bottles  should not  be  stacked very  high to  avoid leakage.  So  it  stands  to reason that  lying  them  side  by  side  within  these  totes  could  also afford  you a  place to keep them out of the  way and  still within easy  reach   when you need  them.  Not  to mention  keep them from  becoming  an eyesore or  having to  designate  premium closet  space  for  stacked  boxes of  water  containers.  This  will not work  for  gallon jugs unless  your  bed  is high enough  to  accommodate the  jugs  standing  up.  However,  it  will  work  great  for  water filled  pop  bottles laid  side  by  side  within the  tote to keep them  from  rolling  around as  well as  gathering  dust.  The  same  goes  for  canned  foods, they  are low  enough to stand  side  by  side  within the  tote and not  so tall that  you  cannot close the lid.  Allowing  you  to  slide it underneath  your  beds to use  up that  space  that  would  otherwise be occupied by dust bunnies or  wayward  shoes  J
Closet  floor  space  is also a  good  place  to  consider.  If  you  have  shoes  or  shoe racks  that  sit on the  floor, consider placing  some  medium  size boxes  side  by  side  along its  length.  Placing a pretty  patterned vinyl tables  cloth to  cover the boxes  and  placing the  shoe  racks  atop them.  Generally  unless  you  have  gowns  in the  closet  you would have  a  bit  of  space to  work  with and  still have  your  shoes  organized  within  reach, as  well as  the  re-purposed added storage  space .
Atop china  cabinets hutches or  even  built  in  shelving  that  some homes  have that  generally  is used for silk vines and  flowers for added decor.  Why  not  take  boxes that  fit into these  space and  re-purpose it  for  storage rather than decoration. Making it  useful storage with flair.  Decorate  the  outer  face  of  the  boxes that  would be  facing  out  onto  the  room ; because  you  do want  it to look  nice.  After all, no one wants their guests to look  up and  see a  bunch  of plain old  boxes  staring  out  at  them  from above.  So  let’s  say  you  purchase  some  decorative  wrapping  paper, at the  dollar store, that  fits  the  color  scheme  and  decor  of that particular  room.  Not  wrapping  the  entire  box simply  the  part facing  out.  You  can measure  and cut  pieces  of the  paper  and  glue  them to the  faces  of the  box visible to the  room.  The  end boxes  would  obviously  need  to be  covered on two sides.  This  would be a nice  way to  also occupy  space  that  would  otherwise be  going to waste. Making it a pretty  space  at  a low  cost, which  is always a plus !  And  who is to say  you  cannot use  those silk  vines  to add to the  look?  J
The possibilities are only limited  by  your imagination and  creativity.
