Adolf, Amin and Bibi

By Uri Avnery

October 31, 2015 "Information Clearing House"

IT IS not very pleasant when serious people around the world – historians, psychiatrists, diplomats – ask themselves if my prime minister is completely sane.

But this is happening now. And not only abroad. More and more people in Israel are asking themselves the same question.

All this is the result of one event. But people are now looking at many other events - past and present – in a new light.

Until now, many strange actions and utterances by Binyamin Netanyahu have been seen as the manipulations of a clever politician, a talented demagogue who knows the soul of his constituents and supplies them with ample lies.

Not anymore. A troubling suspicion is getting around: that our prime minister has serious mental problems. Is he losing his marbles?

IT ALL started two weeks ago, when Netanyahu made a speech to a world-wide Zionist assembly. What he said was shocking.

Adolf Hitler, he pontificated, did not really want to exterminate the Jews. He just wanted to expel them. But then he met the Mufti of Jerusalem, who convinced him to "burn" the Jews. Thus the Holocaust was born.

The conclusion? Hitler was not so bad after all. The Germans are not really to blame. It was the Palestinians who were the instigators of the murder of six million Jews.

If the subject had been different, this speech could be considered as one of the usual lies and falsifications typical of Netanyahu. Hitler was really not so bad, the Palestinians are to blame, the Mufti was the forerunner of Mahmoud Abbas. Just a routine piece of political propaganda.

In Seach Of Netanyahu's historical revisionism : Hitler & The Mufti - The Official Transcript (November 28, 1941)

Hitler & The Mufti - The Official Transcript (November 28, 1941)

The following is the official record of the conversation between Adolf Hitler and Haj Amin al-Husseini in Berlin. You may note that while the Leader of National Socialist Germany seems to be committed to the battle against world Jewry,  the Grand Mufti of Jerusalem is only concerned with Arab and Palestinian's interests as one would expect him to be.  In the entire text there is not a single reference to 'Jew burning' as Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu suggested yesterday.
The Grand Mufti began by thanking the Fuhrer for the great honor he had bestowed by receiving him. He wished to seize the opportunity to convey to the Fuhrer of the Greater German Reich, admired by the entireArab world, his thanks for the sympathy which he had always shown for the Arab and especially the Palestinian cause, and to which he had given clear espressos in his public speeches. The Arab countries were firmly convinced that Germany would win the war and that the Arab cause would then prosper: The Arabs were Germany's natural friends because they had the same enemies as had Germany, namely the English, the Jews, and the Communists. They were therefore prepared to cooperate with Germany with all their hearts and stood ready to participate in the war, not only negatively by the commission of acts of sabotage and the instigation of revolutions, but also positively by the formation of an Arab Legion. The Arabs could he more useful to Germany as allies than might he apparent at first glance, both for geographical reasons and because of the suffering inflicted upon them by the English and the Jews. Furthermore, they had had close relations with all Moslem nations, of which they could make use in behalf of the common cause. The Arab Legion would he quite easy to raise. An appeal by the Mufti to the Arab countries and the prisoners of Arab, Algerian,Tunisian, and Moroccan nationality in Germany would produce a great number of volunteers eager to fight. Of Germany's victory the Arab world was firmly convinced, not only because the Reich possessed a large army, brave soldiers, and military leaders of genius, but also because the Almighty could never award the victory to an unjust cause.

In this struggle, the Arabs were striving for the independence and unity of Palestine, Syria and Iraq. They had the fullest confidence in the Fuhrer and looked to his hand for the balm on their wounds which had been inflicted upon them by the enemies of Germany.

The Mufti then mentioned the letter he had received from Germany, which stated that Germany was holding no Arab territories and understood and recognized the aspirations to independence and freedom of the Arabs, just as she supported the elimination of the Jewish national home.

We're responsible for Holocaust, not Palestinian mufti , Germany states in response to Netanyahu's Holocaust revision

New York Times

The claim by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu of Israel that a Palestinian persuaded Adolf Hitler to exterminate the Jews of Europe is outrageous.

It is outrageous because the Holocaust is far too terrible a crime to be exploited for political ends, especially in the state linked so closely to the tragedy of the Jewish people. It is outrageous because the only apparent purpose is to demonize the Palestinians and the current leader of the Palestinian Authority, Mahmoud Abbas, and to give the impression that their resistance is based solely on a longstanding hatred of the Jews, and not on their occupation by Israel or any other grievance. And it comes at a time of renewed tension in Israel, with a wave of lone-wolf attacks on Jews by knife-wielding Palestinians.

The Israeli prime minister’s assertion before the World Zionist Congress on Tuesday was not the first time he has alleged that Haj Amin al-Husseini, a grand mufti of Jerusalem, Arab nationalist and zealous foe of Zionism, was one of the instigators of the Holocaust. This time, however, Mr. Netanyahu went further and absurdly portrayed Mr. Husseini as the decisive voice in persuading a purportedly wavering Hitler to exterminate the Jews. While it is a fact that Mr. Husseini met with Hitler in 1941 in search of support, only a handful of fringe historians have claimed, with no evidence, that he planted the idea of the “final solution.”

We're responsible for Holocaust, not Palestinian mufti - Germany on Netanyahu remarks

Germany has addressed comments made by Benjamin Netanyahu, in which the Israeli leader accused the World War II Palestinian grand mufti of inspiring the Holocaust. Berlin said it must never be forgotten that responsibility lies with Germany.

"All Germans know the history of the murderous race mania of the Nazis that led to the break with civilization that was the Holocaust," Chancellor Angela Merkel's spokesman, Steffen Seibert, said when asked about Netanyahu's Tuesday remarks.

"This is taught in German schools for good reason: it must never be forgotten. And I see no reason to change our view of history in any way. We know that responsibility for this crime against humanity is German and very much our own,” he said on Wednesday, as quoted by Reuters.

Israel's loud posturing and nay-saying as Putin outmaneuvers Netanyahu in neutralizing strategic move.

Netanyahu da Putin su Siria con capo intelligence e esercito

Analysis: Russian military role in Syria has implications for Israel, West

  • Putin: We respect Israel's interests, but are concerned over its attacks on Syria

  • PM underlined to Russia that Israel will continue to protect interests, says Ya'alon

A gun placed on stage in the first act must be fired by the last one. This axiom is attributed to Russian playwright Anton Chekov – the same one whose work Minister of Culture Miri Regev proudly declared she has never read.

Even though it was clear that the extensive military buildup by the Russia Army in Syria was bound to eventually lead to military intervention in the civil war, the first Russian air strikes yesterday were received with a bit of surprise. Yesterday morning the Russia Duma (parliament) approved the use of military force – as if President Vladimir Putin really needed their approval – and yesterday by noon missions were executed near the towns of Homs, Hama, and Latakiya. According to Western sources, the Russians targeted positions of rebel groups opposing the regime of President Bashar Assad, including factions supported by the US. The Russian Ministry of Defense, on the other hand, said that its air force targeted ISIS.

Nevertheless, one can assume that Russia is trying to create a division of labor that is not to the liking of the US and its Arab and Western coalition partners assembled to fight on two fronts: the Assad regime and Islamic State.

The Russian logic is that the US-led coalition will attack ISIS and Russia will attack the rest of the rebel groups. Regardless of whether such a division will be in place de facto, one conclusion is emerging: the big winner of the new situation is Assad and his failed regime.

Israeli PM brands boycotters ‘anti-Semites,’ bent on ‘destruction of Jewish state’

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has condemned the boycott movement against Israel as anti-Semitism in a modern guise. Blasting the initiative as an “outrage,” Netanyahu likened EU companies’ tactics to the Nazi policy of embargoing Jewish businesses.
In a heated attack on the Palestinian-led boycott movement of Israel, Netanyahu told a conference of US Jewish organizations in Jerusalem on Monday that it was time to “delegitimize the delegitimizers."
"In the past anti-Semites boycotted Jewish businesses and today they call for the boycott of the Jewish state, and by the way, only the Jewish state," Netanyahu said. "I think that it is important that the boycotters be exposed for what they are, they are classical anti-Semites in modern garb," Netanyahu said.
He added that the ultimate goal of the Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions movement (BDS) was the destruction of the Jewish state. The BDS is a movement sponsored by pro-Palestinian intellectuals and bloggers and is calling for a boycott on all Israeli goods as an act of protest against Israel’s policy towards Palestine.
It encourages its supporters to “target products and companies (Israeli and international) that profit from the violation of Palestinian rights, as well as Israeli sporting, cultural and academic institutions.”

“With regard to things published in the past few days, I have asked for an examination of the matter,” Netanyahu said in broadcast remarks, in a clear reference to the alleged espionage.

Obama’s flip-flop destroys trust: Iran’s Zarif

Tue Oct 1, 2013 11:16AM GMT

Zarif made the comments in response to the latest remarks by the US president during his meeting with Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in Washington on Monday."
Iran Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif has warned the US that its “flip-flop and contradictory” stances will destroy mutual confidence, urging Washington to show consistency in dealing with Iran to promote trust.
“[US] President [Barack] Obama should avert contradiction in order to win the confidence of the Iranian people. Flip-flop and contradictory positions will destroy trust and discredit the United States,” Zarif said on Tuesday.
“President Obama’s presumption that Iran has entered negotiations due to his threats and illegal sanctions is an insult to a nation, [and is] bullying and wrong,” the Iranian minister pointed out.
Zarif made the comments in response to the latest remarks by the US president during his meeting with Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in Washington on Monday.
Obama once again repeated Washington’s warmongering rhetoric against Tehran over Iran's nuclear energy program, saying the US will take no options off the table with regard to Iran.
"We take no options off the table, including military option," he said.
He also added that Iranians are now prepared to negotiate because of the sanctions.
Zarif criticized the US president for making such remarks which were “completely unacceptable but were not unpredictable,” adding, “We will not allow Netanyahu to determine the future of our negotiations.”
He emphasized that Iran would give the “strongest response” to such remarks, saying, “It is important to know that a difficult path has begun. This path is a diplomatic battle and not a friendly and cordial relation.”
The meeting between Obama and Netanyahu came only days after Iran President Hassan Rouhani and his US counterpart had a landmark phone conversation on September 27 mainly focusing on Iran’s nuclear energy program.
It was the first direct communication between an Iranian and a US president since the victory of Iran’s Islamic Revolution more than three decades ago.
The two presidents stressed Tehran and Washington’s political will to swiftly resolve the dispute over Iran’s nuclear energy program which the United States, Israel and some of their allies claim to include a military component.
Iran has categorically rejected the allegation, stressing that as a committed member of the International Atomic Energy Agency and a signatory to the Non-Proliferation Treaty, it is entitled to develop nuclear technology for peaceful purposes.

Iran’s Foreign Ministry expressed displeasure Tuesday with the statement by US President Barack Obama to Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu, according to which the “military option” still existed regarding Iran.
“We expect the US government to deal with Iran based on a realistic policy and talk to the great Iranian nation with [a language of] respect,” Ministry Spokesperson Marziyeh Afkham during her weekly press conference in the Iranian capital.
She made the remark in response to a question about President Obama’s latest comment repeating the threat of military force against Iran.
A report on official PressTV explained that she was referring to a statement by Obama in his Monday meeting with Netanyahu in Washington, that the US would not take any options, “including [the] military option,” off the table, in its dealings with Iran.

Netanyahu issues stern warning on Iran 'ruse'

Oren Dorell, USA TODAY 4:43 p.m. EDT October 1, 2013

Iran says that Obama's recent statements have harmed prospects for peace.

(Photo: Nicholas Kamm, AFP/Getty Images)

Story Highlights

  • Iran's foreign minister calls Netanyahu warnings 'lies'
  • Israeli prime minister wants Iran's military nuclear program dismantled
  • President Obama says all options remain if negotiations fail
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu warned United Nations delegates Tuesday that to avoid a military conflict they must stand firm in putting pressure on Iran to open up its nuclear program to inspection.
"Iran wants to be in position to rush forward and build nuclear bombs before the world can prevent it," Netanyahu said, warning that recent gestures from Iran toward peace are a "ruse" to lull the West into backing off.
He said the "one big problem" that stands in in the way of Iran's aims are the economic sanctions that the West has imposed to get Iran to prove its claim the its nuclear program is for peaceful purposes. He warned that the sanctions must remain and be toughened if Iran is to be stopped.
"A nuclear armed Iran would have a choke-hold on the world's main energy supplies, it would trigger nuclear proliferation throughout the Middle East," he said. "It would make the specter of nuclear terrorism a clear and present danger."
To prevent war, the world community should not agree to "a partial deal" that lifts sanctions that took years to implement in return for cosmetic changes that Iran could reverse in weeks, Netanyahu said.
"Lift the sanctions only when Iran fully dismantles its nuclear weapons program," he said. "The international community has Iran on the ropes. If you want to knock out Iran's nuclear weapons program peacefully, don't let up the pressure."
And if talks fail, Netanyahu left little doubt that Israel will take matters into its own hands.
"Israel will not allow Iran to get nuclear weapons," he said. "If Israel is forced to stand alone, Israel will stand alone."
His speech comes after Iranian President Hasan Rouhani brought a new message of friendliness during a four-day trip to the United Nations in New York last week, a trip that ended with a 15-minute phone call with Obama. It was the first phone call between two leaders from the U.S. and Iran in three decades.
U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry and other world powers will participate in talks with Iran over curtailing its nuclear program later this month.
Netanyahu attempted to rebut the image of Rouhani as an independent Iranian leader seeking peace and friendship with the West. It's true the new Iranian leader does not sound like his predecessor, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, Netanyahu said.
"The only difference between them is this: Ahmadinejad was a wolf in wolf's clothing. Rouhani is a wolf in sheeps clothing, a wolf who thinks he can pull the wool over the eyes of the international community."

Western Allies prepare their 3rd WMD attack on Syria

The Hermitage at dusk – Saint Petersburg
“Deep within every one of us lies a natural understanding of good and evil. That is why one man can tell the truth convincingly…but it takes the entire apparatus of the state to peddle a lie, and propagate that lie to new generations.”…Gandhi

St. Petersburg – at dusk
While the world watches to see when and how the ‘punishment attack’ will be launched on Syria, I read reports all day trying to see if anyone would lay out what really has been going on. They did not.
The US and its allies, to their eternal shame, have already used WMD on the Syrian people, but initially in a non traditional form. They changed their game plan for future regime changes to avoid using their own troops and as little cash as possible. How?
They went rogue. They went over to terrorism. They went over to al-Qaeda, that’s how. Using the Gulf State proxies has fooled no one here.
They dusted off Ziggy Brzezinski’s old destabilization plan for starting Muslim holy wars against the Russians in the Caucasus. The strategy was to keep them tied up in the tried and true, ‘death by a thousand cuts’ insurgent wars.
Ziggy has no regrets over the 150,000 dead in the Chechen war. His justification was “Would you have rather seen them marching into Europe?” There was a little problem with that. They never could have marched into Europe as both ‘assured mutual destruction’ and tactical nuclear weapons served as an effective bear trap.
We move on now to how earlier in Afghanistan where Saudi money and CIA logistics cranked up the first major ‘use the locals for cannon fodder’ war in that region. And yes, the Madrasa schools to indoctrinate children to be an endless supply of holy warriors…yes…we and the Saudis did that.
As happens over and over, when later a Frankenstein after effect monster is found walking around, all those previously found to have conceived him deny being the father. So we have the continuing carnage of Muslim extremism being inflicted upon us which someone paid with taxpayer money was a smart idea.
Roll forward to several years ago where Syria was chosen as a replacement vehicle for an attack on Iran and to put the Russians ‘in their place’. Due to tight budgets, like internet writers often do by borrowing someone else’s material, a new policy guru wanting to look smart dusted off the old Ziggy Holy War plan and proposed going back to the well for a proven strategy.
This is not Moses leading them over the bridge
This is not Moses leading them over the bridge
The Persian Gulf States would pay most of the freight, and the cannon fodder this time would be the endless supply of disaffected Arab youth and religious extremists.
Their officer corps, in a twisted irony, would be veterans of the Iraq, Afghanistan and Chechen wars, plus the leftovers from the Arab Springs.
This was going to be regime change on the cheap, a cookie cutter strategy that could be used over and over. This was the first WMD unleashed on Syria.
But there were a few problems with the plan. First, the world public is now well aware how uncaring government regimes can be for not accepting any responsibility for the disasters they create because they have immunity.
So citizens know that makes them very dangerous as cold graves do not await them for terrible failure, but cozy think tank positions and highly paid lobbying jobs with their true employers.
Plan A was to collapse the Syrian Army through defections, and the government itself through a long series of assassinations that Western media forgot to tell us about. But something happened on the way to the forum, the government and army did not collapse, and the people…they got mad. Plan A backfired.
The public looks at a long drawn out fight as a misjudgment by their leaders going into it. Modern military brass almost always advise not to go in where a decisive victory can not be attained reasonably quickly.
Politicians are prone to multiply their mistakes here, like Bush did in brow beating his brass into more rosy projections of fewer occupation troops needed to secure Iraq. General Eric Shinseki said 400,000 and was forced to resign.

Israel deploys Iron Dome defence system: Netanyahu

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Thursday said Israel deployed its Iron Dome missile defence system to bolster its security as the West weighed military strikes on neighbouring Syria.
But he echoed President Shimon Peres in insisting that Israel is not involved in Syria's civil war but will respond with all its might if attacked.
"We have decided to deploy Iron Dome and other interceptors," Netanyahu said, in a statement released by his office, ahead of holding security talks at the defence ministry.
"We are not involved in the war in Syria. But I repeat: if anyone tries to harm Israeli citizens, Tsahal (the Israeli army) will respond with force," Netanyahu said in other remarks broadcast by Israeli television.
His comments come as Britain and the United States laid out their case for punitive strikes on Syria over an alleged chemical attack last week that rights groups say killed hundreds.
Earlier Peres said Israel will hit back if its security is at stake.
"Israel was not, and is not, involved in the Syrian fighting but if anyone tries to harm us we will respond with all our might," Peres was quoted as saying in a statement from his office.
"Israel has a strong army, modern and powerful, and a more advanced defence system than ever before," he added.
Army chief of staff Lieutenant General Benny Gantz said his forces were "ready for all scenarios," but added: "I hope we will not have to send them into action."
Peres said the situation in Syria, where a civil war that erupted in March 2011 has killed more than 100,000 people, "is not a local incident but a crime against humanity."
Israeli media and officials sought to calm the public on Thursday, as queues for gas masks lengthened.
There are fears that it the United States and its allies launch military strikes on Syria, forces of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad could retaliate against Israel, Washington's key ally in the region.
"Keep calm and carry on" was the title of a front-page analysis in the Jerusalem Post, echoing a slogan designed by the British government in World War II.

Netanyahu: ‘Low probability’ Israel will be drawn into Syria fighting

With US-led strike expected early next week, IDF scales back leave for units in north, hospitals told to be ready for any emergencies, but leaders say Israelis have nothing to fear

Israeli authorities went out of their way on Thursday to calm fears of a regional war, even as military sources said they anticipated US-led intervention in Syria early next week..
“There is no need to change our routine at this time,” Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said in a YouTube video released Thursday (Hebrew link) of him speaking at the start of a meeting with defense officials at IDF headquarters in Tel Aviv. “Israel is prepared,” he said.

Responding to reports of heightened IDF mobilization, including the deployment of additional missile-defense batteries to the north, Netanyahu suggested the steps were taken as a precaution.
“Despite the low probability that Israel will become involved in what is happening in Syria, we decided to deploy the Iron Dome batteries and other interception systems,” he said.
Netanyahu, who was meeting with security chiefs in Tel Aviv late into Thursday, added: “We are not involved in the civil war in Syria, but let me reiterate, if someone tries to harm Israel’s citizens, the IDF will respond with immense power.”
IDF Chief of the General Staff Lt.-Gen. Benny Gantz made similar comments Thursday night, telling Israelis they could go about their daily lives as usual, and that the army was “ready for any scenario.”

Some reports also surfaced Thursday that the IDF had frozen all leave for units deployed in the north, though other sources said there had only been a reduction in weekend leaves.
